Small is beautiful.... HBK new home

So, last week I final got the keys to our new home. The new HBK HQ is situated in a sweet little coachhouse on Glenroy Street, just off Albany Road, Roath, Cardiff. We are so excited to be based in Roath and have already met some of our lovely neighbours. Plus, we've got Roath's Farmer Market right on our doorstep every Saturday morning - result!

Although the coachhouse came with a fresh lick of paint and lots of natural light, it is going to take some hard work and late nights to get it to reflect our signature HBK style. Here's how it's been going so far...

Sand, sand, sand....

The window & door were brown & a needed some love, I sanded them back & then painted them a nice shiny black.

Gone, gone, gone....

The orange carpet is up & I have sanded the staircase back...... now I just need to decide whether to paint or carpet it..... 

Paint, paint, paint....

The coachhouse has shutters over the door & window, the forest green is now black...... why is gloss so STINKY?! 

The handwork is paying off, and last Saturday the even sun seemed to approve of the progress I'd made.

With the basics done, it's nearly time to call in Ongl, an awesome Cardiff-based design and build team. I worked with Sarah and the team when I first opened my shop in Castle Arcade. The Ongl team did an amazing job of bringing my ideas to life and I can't wait for them to complete the final transformation of the coachhouse.

Keep an eye on social media (especially our Instagram stories) for more sneak peeks over the next few weeks. We're aiming to open our doors early October. Pop your head in if you're passing by before then, you'll probably find me up a ladder or with a paintbrush in my hand.
