Meet Sphery… My very own lighting range.
Last week, I was asked to join in a Q&A session for a Warrior Women Interiors event in Kin + Ilk. I was asked lots of great questions but the one I get asked pretty often is - what’s the one design style/trend that I can’t live with out? My answer, every time - WOOD.
Anyone who knows me, knows I have an obsession with wood. From the OSB in my shop, birch ply shelves + bed in my home to some of my all time favourite artists + designers - featuring you have guessed it wood… David Nash, Barbara Hepworth, Tom Raffied, Ercol, are just a few . I seem to live and breath wood. I love its natural tones, textures and patterns, and its never-ending ability to create beautiful, sculptural and functional pieces.
Maybe one of my biggest wooden love affairs started with my very own lighting range, Sphery. Sphery started its life back in 2006 as a sculptural piece. Each of its curved segments is made of sustainably sourced birch plywood. Using wood from a sustainable source was always super important to me. I always wanted Sphery to be a timeless piece with minimal impact on the environment it came from.
In 2009, I developed it into a statement light shade which is now available 3 different sizes. Sphery’s unique design provides functional light and casts amazing, moving shadows around the room.
If you are looking for individual styling and have a passion for beautifully made products, Sphery will be perfect for you.
Sphery30 produces beautiful shadows along with a functional light. With a distinctive and statement design this flat pack light is a must.
Sitting on the cusp between lighting and sculpture, Sphery30 is structurally composed of curved segments of 4mm birch ply which slot together effetely.
The beautifully bold yet compact Sphery30 is adaptable to any room or ceiling height.
With a nod to the Scandinavian and Mid Century styling, you can place Sphery30 with many interior styles. With its clean-cut lines Sphery30 can be clustered in multiples, or displayed individually for a more focused interest.
Use energy saving bulbs only- 15watt max, light fixings not included.
A variation in colour may occur due to the nature of the beautiful birch ply wood.
Once made please do not take apart.

Sitting on the cusp between lighting and sculpture its unique design produces stunning shadows and movement, effortlessly deviating from the functional to non-functional. Sphery50 is structurally composed of curved slender segments of sustainably sourced 1.5mm birch plywood. The dramatic large Sphery50 will stand strikingly within your interior setting.

If I’m asked to describe Sphery’s style, I’ll say a nod to Scandi and Mid-century styling. Thanks to its clean-cut lines, it works as a statement piece in many interior styles.
